Thought I’d post something on squatting … since I hate the Smith machine, yet know how popular it is.

  1. Machines are never superior to free weights.
  2. The Smith machine locks you into a fixed plane of motion, which develops what is called ‘pattern overload syndrome’. This was coined by Paul Chek and is explained here.
